As Utah’s original garage door company, Lowry Doors has served thousands of homeowners and businesses since 1950. We’re proud to be family-owned, built on craftsmanship and trust.
The Lowry Doors Story
As dream homes are built and existing homes are maintained, Lowry Doors’ customers have always expected quality products, fair prices, and excellent service. Over the decades, starting from box springs and simple bed frames to today’s custom garage door offerings, Lowry Doors has been meeting customer expectations since 1950.
Our Roots: The Beginning in 1950
Rulon Lowry, founder of Lowry Doors, began building and installing garage doors crafted from wood and bed frames, made functional by means of box springs and other creatively used hardware. In 1950, Rulon formed the company and began developing what would become the longest-standing garage door company in Utah, focused on providing exceptional service in Utah Valley.
Soon after, the business grew and was able to purchase higher-quality hardware from California. Rulon’s son, Lynn Lowry, joined the company and helped expand the operation by sourcing premade garage door panels to pair with the new hardware—broadening the company’s capabilities and customer base. Eventually, in 1969, Lynn officially took over and, within a year, built the current facility at 782 N. State Street in Orem.
As time went on, products and business practices evolved, but the company’s core commitment to professional service only strengthened. Lynn was adamant that every customer receive top-tier care. Because of this, he carefully selected team members who would carry those same values into the next generation. One of those key hires, Scott Boulter, is now COO and has been with the company for over 30 years.
Growth, Innovation, and Family Tradition
Ron and Dan Lowry, Lynn’s sons, and longtime family friend, Lewis Cowley, worked under Lynn and eventually purchased the business. Together with Lewis, they upheld the company’s foundational values while modernizing product offerings and implementing computer technology—hallmarks of a forward-thinking garage door company in Utah.
Continuing the Legacy Today
Today, under the continued leadership of Dan and Lewis, Marshall Lowry—Dan’s son—leads the team as the fourth generation in a long line of family leadership. His great grandfather founded the business, and now Marshall carries the torch as president of the premier garage door company in Utah, servicing thousands of homeowners and businesses throughout the valley and beyond. Despite all the changes, Lowry Doors no longer builds garage doors out of bed frames and box springs, but the integrity, pride, and legacy behind every install remain the same.
